Flockle are a playable owlfolk ancestry for MCDM’s Draw Steel.

The flockle are a short, feathery, scrappy people. Highly seclusive with strong beliefs and a rigorously charted history, flockle venerate family and dislike outsiders. They can glide, help allies, avoid danger, and defy the big bads. If someone scoffs at their stature, their silly names, then the flockle have successfully manipulated them. You don’t survive as long as they have without being clever and vigilant. 

As they say, “Flightless, but not fightless!”

I like humans in fantasy games - as heroes, as villains, and as all things in between. In Draw Steel, only war dogs and demons have the stat blocks necessary to remain relevant from level 1 to 10. It is a stated assumption that beyond 1st echelon, heroes no longer need to contend with bands of non-magical humanoids. Humans are low-level threats; bandits and bullies. But then, the only level 11 monster in the game is Ajax the Invincible, a human of exceptional threat.

Oh, the Humanity! is a work-in-progress human bestiary which intends to provide human stat blocks for heroes to fight throughout a campaign, from ragtag bandits to humans with real power and widespread villainous influence.

What is included?

• Human Alchemist (Level 2 Platoon Hexer)

• Human Priest (Level 3 Platoon Support)

• Warhorse (Level 1 Platoon Mount)

• Human Slasher (Level 1 Solo), including unique Malice features.

Will there be more?

This is Volume 1 of Oh, the Humanity!, containing just a few additional 1st echelon humans intended for use alongside those found in Draw Steel: Monsters, and a level 1 human solo to use as an early game boss fight. Stat blocks for 2nd and 3rd echelon humans are already ready for testing, and when this long process is done, Volumes 2 and 3 of Oh, the Humanity! will feature full bands' worth of humans for higher echelon play.

Volume 1 can be considered a sample of what's to come. The statblocks can be downloaded for free as a demo. Please enjoy these monsters, and consider coming back when Volumes 2, 3, and possibly 4 are released as full monster bands.

Your body doesn’t belong to you. You are merely borrowing it from someone who was clearly done using it! Your recently deceased benefactor left a perfectly good corpse behind, and you weren’t about to let it go to waste. As a sapient parasitic entity of flesh and bloody magic, you did the only sensible thing; you crawled up into it, started controlling it like a puppet, and for all intents and purposes, it is your body now.

This is my entry for Jams of the Timescape Vol.2 : Ancestries, which managed to snag the 4th place out of 111 entries! The Dweller is a parasitic ancestry that allows you to puppeteer humanoid corpses. It might sound edgy, and it is, but it can also be very goofy and I honestly love that! Black and White version and Alt Cover now available!

The fiction section features Lady Spindle, a polder void mage in search of a particular severed head. If you want to know more about her (or the head), you're in luck! This is part of a larger story made in collaboration with other Jam entries; The Gargoyle, The Ghost, and the Bredbeddle. Go take a look, they are awesome!

Fun fact: I originally wrote down the purchased traits as I came up with them, which turned out to be reverse alphabetical order. I left them in that order because it also looks like it goes from least to most complex, making the ancestry easier to grasp.

The Kobold Ancestry evolves the ancestry mechanics from Draw Steel. In the core rules, the ancestral options you pick during character creation remain static during your adventuring career. At level 1, your dwarf is the most dwarf they'll ever be. Kobolds are dynamic, earning boons from the great wyrms to unlock new draconic features!

A favor for the Wyrm Beneath magnetizes your scales to yank foes into your grasp. Please the Wyrm Heraldic to sprout wings and soar the skies like your ancestors. At the end of this long path lies the ultimate boon: full metamorphosis into the form of a mighty dragon!

Швидкий старт

Draw Steel складається з двох книг правил — «Герої» та «Чудовиська», але 800 сторінок здібностей, ворогів, навичок і варіантів минулого персонажа можуть зробити знайомство з грою, про яку ви ще не впевнені, чи полюбите її, трохи складним. Тож перед вами чудова альтернатива — перекладені українською мовою стартові правила у вигляді безкоштовного Швидкого старту, які дають лише тільки те необхідне, щоб розпочати гру. «Швидкий старт» містить:

• «Стартові правила»;

• 9 готових персонажів — по одному на кожний клас — а також чистий аркуш персонажа;

• «Стартові чудовиська»: 12 гоблінів, 10 людей, 11 невмерлих, 2 василіски, 2 огра і вовкулака — кожний зі своє роллю в бою — а також чотири прислужника і пару небезпек, які можна додати на мапу бойового зіткнення;

• Аркуші зіткнень, які полегшують ведення гри для Режисера;

• «Повстати з праху» — готова коротка пригода для героїв 1-го рівня, до якої входять бойові зіткнення, монтажна перевірка та переговори. 

Цього буде досить, щоб зіграти кілька сесій і зрозуміти, чи хочете ви ще!

«А буде ще?»

Наразі повністю перекладеними українською є лише стартові правила. Перекладом, виконаним згідно з ліцензією, займається у вільний час один-єдиний бідолашний відчайдух (я не знаю, нащо я за це взявся). В планах є перекласти обидві книги правил — спочатку все необхідне для
першого рівня, потім для другого… і так до останнього, десятого — та займе це чималенько часу, адже я хочу, щоб переклад був якісним. Тож якщо ви бажаєте підтримати такі зухвалі зусилля та додати мотивації автору перекладу, зверніть увагу, що ви маєте опцію придбати цей переклад :)

Do you want to fight a moon?

The Matter of an Overmind is an epic space-faring Draw Steel adventure for three to six 4th-level heroes. When the heroes follow a protean ship through the ethereal void, they encounter a rogue planetoid that turns out to be a living overmind! How do you even fight something that size? At 4th level!
