<p>Welcome to the <strong>Wastelands of High Radiation</strong>! It has 
been a couple hundred years since the radiation deaths began. In that 
time, humanity &amp; co. has scrounged its way up through the irradiated
 dust in the wreckage &amp; ruins to make an existence again. Pure 
humans, mutant humanoids, mutant animals, robotics, &amp; cyborgs live 
along side each other, often with great internal and external friction. 
Communities fight the elements and erratic weather to grow stunted crops
 between the ruins of cities. Traders risk the mutant beasts and roving 
bandits to trade scavenged tech and information along the broken roads. 
Enigmatic Coalitions (secret cabals and known societies) scheme to enact
 their agendas from secreted away enclaves. Bunkers open to the surface 
in want of parts and repairs. Robotics and cyborgs roam the wastes, 
following ancient programming from a world that doesn't exist.</p><p>    All that said, it is neither grim dark, nor wacky gonzo-ness. 
There is an air of humor about this setting which should stand out <em>because it is not commonplace</em>. People still struggle, but no matter how mutated they are: <strong>they're still people, warts and all</strong>.
 Popular video game series about wishing for nuclear winters or 
wandering the nuclear fallout for vaults to delve should inform the 
consumer of this setting if you need a reference.</p><p>    The Irradiated Reference Pages, Volume 1, is an absolutely <em>densely-packed</em>
 16-page document, full of generators, spark tables, &amp; ideas for 
your gamma-irradiated, post-apocalyptic games &amp; settings. The 
Irradiated Reference Pages, Volume 1, is designed with the 1978 
gamma-irradiated science-fantasy roleplaying game (or the 2nd edition, 
which is very similar) in mind, but can work very easily with any other 
system of your choice. The only specifics are the poison intensity 
tables, but you can use them however you may with ease. Public domain 
art from the heyday of pulp science fantasy is used, as well. I hope you
 enjoy this work and get use out of it! Hopefully this is just the first
 in the Wastelands of High Radiation. Who knows where volume 2 may take

<p>Here are some referee screens for Original D&amp;D,. These hew as 
close as I can get to the rules, with no houserules mixed in. Chainmail 
was used for combat procedures, missile weapon information, some morale 
info and maybe one or two very small places, I forget. The relevant 
references are listed beside the section headings for quick reference in
 the books. The Alternative Combat System is used alongside Chainmail’s 
fantastic and non-fantastic combat systems. This is how the books say to
 do it, so that's how I did it.<br /><br />There are two main screens:<br />The
 first screen has the relevant matrices and tables for combat.  Each of 
these variants have two additional variants: 3LBB only with no 
supplements and the second uses variable weapon damage and variable XP 
from supplement I, GH. Each of these screens come with either the THAC0 
attack matrix or the full attack matrix.</p><p>The second screen has the relevant procedures for combat, as well as 
tables and procedures for wilderness adventures. For this screen there 
is the Chainmail Move/Countermove combat system or a simplified 
Chainmail combat system based on Sword &amp; Wizardry's alternating 
phases.<br /><br />Use whichever of the two screen variants you wish to use with your game.</p><p>The screens have dashed lines around the border to make a consistent 
cutting job as how I use them is to cut them out and use scrapbook photo
 corner holder thingies and stick them on my referee screen with awesome
 artwork (shoutout to OSE’s Peter Mullen screens!).</p><p>Attached are the pdfs as well as the .odt files. I use LibreOffice, 
but these should work for those stuck with Microsoft Word or whatever so
 that you can edit them as you please. Fonts are embedded, otherwise I 
use Comfortaa Medium and Carlito. Feel free to drop a donation if you 
think it worthwhile, it will only go to furthering my game habit with 
indie creators. So far, I've made $18, which is awesome and very much

The book is designed to teach the game as it’s being played, providing step-by-step instructions, robust character-creation, and four fill-in-the-blank mysteries to solve.<br /></p><p>The Human’s strength is in accomplishing things in the physical world. They can attempt any action they want, but they have a better chance of success if they are doing something in line with their <br />occupation or trait. The Ghost can help as well.</p><p>The Ghost<strong> </strong>has any supernatural abilities they want, like reading auras, seeing echoes of the past, and communicating with spirits. <p>The most interesting day of a man's life is the day when it ends. But this isn't a place for ordinary men. This is a place for the strong, the worthy, and those willing to compromise everything. <br /></p><p>In short, G<em>ratitude</em>  is a storytelling game about trying to please an unknowable god-being in the hopes of being able to leave this terrible place. Once you die – and you will die – you might return as a Haunt, a pale shade of what you were in life. And you will turn against those you most recently called friend.</p><p>This is a game about losing everything. </p><p>This is a game about being grateful for what you have. </p><p><br /></p><h1><em>The Game</em></h1><p>Gratitude was originally released as part of ZineQuest 2021.</p><p>Gratitude is a 60-page zine that includes elements of body horror and cosic horror. Players mix-and-match abilities from various factions and travel to complete quests, while sacrificing pieces of themselves that we so often take for granted.</p><p><strong>Body horror </strong>involves violating the sanctity of mind and body. It is about reminding us that we are made of meat and can suffer terrible physical trauma. It is about flesh being torn off, displayed, and invaded.</p><p><strong>Cosmic horror </strong>is about reminding us that we are small and insignificant. It is about not being able to make a difference on the world around us, about not being remembered. It is a reminder that we are small and that we are temporary.</p><p>This game may not be for you.</p><p><br /></p><h1><em>The World</em></h1><p>Years ago, something changed. The atmosphere itself became toxic to testosterone. The results were sudden and unpleasant.<br /></p><p>The Culling killed 30% of people worldwide as the air turned against them. They choked on nothing all at once. Perhaps someone from a different vantage point could have seen a pattern, a trend...something. Maybe an Overseer knows. Or maybe it really was just cursed luck.</p><p>In any case, those who survived were left frail, impotent, and brittle-boned. Science solved the problems of reproduction, and mobility, and vast societal changes were immediately implemented to account for the Culled. But the damage cannot be so easily waved away. Many of the Culled who are left are human only by tradition— genetically evolved, selectively bred, and labratorially tampered with to evolve beyond whatever attributes the environment seems to hate. They are husks who survive with drugs and machinery, standing in open defiance against an atmosphere that hates them.</p><p>The world is ruled by unknowable beings known as Overseers, and most people believe that the only way to leave is to gain favor with these beings. Players can steal power from five factions, but each power requires a sacrifice. The factions are:</p><ul><li><p>The Prophets, who believe they can understand the Overseers and interpret their desires. Some of them have learned to siphon power from the Overseers – power they can barely control, power that can break body and mind alike.</p></li><li><p>The Grayfolk, who have forsaken both color and personal identity to create art in a wasteland. They run a museum where entry requires the donning of glasses that filter out color.</p></li><li><p>The Worldbreakers, hackers who have found ways to modify the source code of reality itself. Their understanding is limited, but sometimes they get the effects they desire.</p></li><li><p>The Bobbinscallers, who believe —not entirely incorrectly —that they can summon and control the 30-foot-tall Golden Retrievers that are the favored pets of the Overseers.</p></li><li><p>The Atoners, masochistic tank-clerics who believe they are being punished for grievous crimes they only half remember.</p></li></ul><p>Years ago, Zebra Marks was able to procure a single female Golden Retriever for an Overseer. That dog, Bobbins, has since been cloned and bred for size. Each of the enormous dogs that roam the world are clones of that original dog. All of them love to play, and none of them realize how big they are. <strong>It</strong> <strong>is</strong> <strong>forbidden to harm or interfere with the dogs in any way.</strong> </p><p>As a reward for this deed, Zebra Marks now works as a tax consultant in a reality indistinguishable from Omaha, Nebraska in 1997. She thanks the Overseers every day for the banality in which she resides.</p><p><br /></p><h1><em>Mechanics</em></h1><p>Gratitude uses a simple, hackable resolution system: in the middle of the table sits a d6. This is the Fear Die. Whenever you attempt an action, you roll a d6 and try to get equal to or greater than the Fear Die. If you succeed, the Fear Die increases by 1. If you fail, you take damage equal to the number shown on the Fear Die.</p><p>Death is rarely the end for characters in Gratitude, merely a setback. You can never die permanently without your own explicit consent. Rather, most of the time you make a sacrifice — your ability to hear out of one ear, a favorite memory, the names of your children — and you come back, resetting the Fear Die to one.</p><p>If you do choose death, your friends must fight the corpse that used to be you, and you return as a Haunt. You're not out of the game, rather you become an observer who can spend Haunt Dice to replace either the rolls of your friends, or the Fear Die itself.</p><p><br /></p><h1><em>Inspiration</em></h1><p><em>Gratitude:</em> <em>a</em> <em>horror</em> <em>game</em> is the product of people who have consumed media their entire lives. We probably aren't capable of properly identifying every inspiration, but some stick out:</p><ul><li><p> <em>Y: The Last Man,</em> a comic by Brian K. Vaughan. The setting would not exist without this seed having been planted in my mind over a decade ago.</p></li><li><p>The RPGs <em>Heart</em> and <em>Dread.</em> The former for tone, the latter for its simplicity of mechanics.</p></li><li><p> <em>Idlewild</em> by Nick Sagan. This book has influenced everything I've ever made to some degree, and this project is no different. The concept of <em>Elsewhere</em>  is inspired by this book.</p></li><li><p> My dopey chocolate lab, Lacy, and <em>Clifford the Big Red Dog</em>. This game is full of giant friendly dogs who have no idea how big they are, and I love them all.</p></li></ul><p></p>]]></description>

<p>Faire Season is a GMless and Diceless tabletop roleplaying game that uses the <em>Belonging Outside Belonging </em>system. <p>I've been playing TTRPGs with my kiddo for as long as I can remember. About a year ago, when they turned eight, they wanted to create their own game. At the time, I was about two years into the final development of my own TTRPG, <em>Guild Chronicles</em>.</p><p><em>Lanternlight</em> grew out of the games that we played as a family. It's designed to be flexible, creative, narratively-focused, and quick to learn. If you're looking for a game that you can play as a family, <em>Lanternlight</em> is a great place to start.</p><h3><strong>What makes this game great for kids?</strong></h3><ul><li><p>uses only six-sided dice (d6) and only requires counting (no sums)</p></li><li><p>has no game terms to memorize</p></li><li><p>can be adapted to any setting or genre on the fly</p></li><li><p>has no distinct rules for combat </p></li></ul><h3><strong>Physical copies</strong></h3><p>The first physical copies of <em>Lanternlight</em> were sold at Anika's elementary school winter marketplace in 2025. They'll be for sale at PAX East in 2026. The book can also be purchased <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://a.co/d/86R3cpn">online</a>!</p><h3><strong>Community copies</strong></h3><p>In collaboration with <em>Lyndhurst Free Press</em> and the <em>Lyndhurst Education and Advocacy Foundation (LEAF)</em>, we're thrilled to offer free community copies of <em>Lanternlight</em>. If you work in a school or community setting and want to bring games to the folks you work with, you are welcome to download a community copy of the game. </p><p>If the cost of the game is prohibitive and a barrier to enjoying it with your family, you are also welcome to download a community copy of the game.</p><h3><strong>Design credits</strong></h3><p>The system was developed through a process of iteration and collaborative play, with Anika (age nine) deciding what was working and what was not. </p><p>Other lightweight d6 systems that Anika had played (like Atlas Games' <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.atlas-games.com/product_tables/AG3110"><em>Magical Kitties Save the Day</em></a><em> </em>and Michael Low's <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.storiesrpg.com/stories-rpg-one-sheet"><em>Stories RPG</em></a>) were influential in its foundational design.</p><p>Andrew (Anika's parent) articulated the rules in text. <p>Have you got a game world you've been playing in for ages but it needs some fleshing out?</p><p>Are there a bunch of groups vying for power in your big city and you want to find a fun way to determine how the balance of power lies?</p><p>Does your setting need some internal development to really bring it to life?</p><p>Based on the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://possible-worlds-games.itch.io/bfb-srd">Beak, Feather &amp; Bone SRD</a>, this game gives you a way to build out your world and develop communities within it organically, all the while creating your own stories and lore to fill in the gaps.</p><p>It's a very simple game that can easily go alongside any other system or setting (although the default in the book is a sci-fi city, you could easily adapt it to a fantasy town, space colony, post-apocalyptic <br />wasteland or anything really!). You don't need to have drawing skills or to do any complicated maths - all that's required is a simple pre-drawn map, some way to colour it in, a standard deck of playing cards and somewhere to take notes.</p><p>Maps can be easily created using the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://watabou.itch.io/medieval-fantasy-city-generator">Watabou map generator</a>.</p><p>Simply choose or create some factions/communities and then take turns drawing cards, picking locations from the map to claim and write down the DNA of it based on the card chosen:</p><h1>Data</h1><p>What is this place? How would a non-player character describe it? What is it used for? What is it called or referred to as?</p><h1>Nerves</h1><p>What is it connected to. Is it of historical or industrial significance? Who or what passes through this? Is another faction or the ruling party involved in it?</p><h1>Acquisition</h1><p>How did this building come to be part of this faction's territory? Do they now own it or simply occupy it? Merge them into one creature and play as them!</p><p>(despite appearances, absolutely no generative AI was used in any way at all during the creation of any Overgrown content - all of these weird and wonderful creatures were handcrafted from license-free images, mostly from Pixabay, using Photoshop, and the files are all available on request!)</p><p>Overgrown is a rules-lite naturepunk TTRPG in which you create and play as rapidly evolving hybrids of literally any animal you can think of. Roam a far-future world where nature has fought back against humanity AND WON. Explore a jungle covered planet, trek vast continent stretching forests and delve into the dank swamplands where a dark element is arising to threaten life itself.</p><p>This all-ages game is a work of collaborative fiction between the players and game-runner, where you build up communities and locations together and craft your own unique story. The intuitive system allows you to have a character made in minutes and to fully understand how to play within that very first session. Just roll a 20 sided die for whatever action you wish to take and add modifiers for each animal feature you can justify using at the time. <p>They tell me the last guy to have seen a sunrise died last week. For as long as anyone else can remember, Necropolis has been shrouded in mists. You can wander the alleys or drive down the highways, but you always end up back downtown. No one knows when exactly the mists came or what they're made of. Some say it's an experiment in nanotech gone wrong, others say it's the souls of the dead, shredded by The Powers That Be like a legally damning document.</p><p><br />I know what you're thinking: But what about the matrix? A hacker friend of mine said it was like one giant private network. Everything is all wired together in a closed information loop. Hell, Necropolis even has its own private satellite beaming down remixes of decades old sitcoms. There are rumors that sometimes heavily encrypted but badly scrambled packets seem to slip in from.... Outside.</p><p><br />I once heard a story about a guy who very briefly managed to login to a system that seemed to be Outside. I wish I could tell you that he went mad and killed his own family after being possessed by some kind of demon. It was worse. He put on a suit and got a job; said he liked being "comfortable."</p><p><br />It doesn't matter whether the streets are in meatspace or cyberspace, it's as if the rest of the damn world just isn't there.</p><p><br />The rumors all say the corps are run by liches and vampires, but from what I've seen those guys are just middle managers punch drunk on petty power. The real answers, if there are answers to be had, lie with The Powers That Be. Whomever... or whatever... occupy those weird reflective obelisks downtown.. We call them "office towers'', but what kind of office building has no windows and no doors?</p><p><br />By now you might be wondering how anyone copes here in Necropolis. Most just get up, get to work, get home and get some sleep, just to do it all over again the next day. But a few of us... we have a different plan...</p><p><strong>Get Out.</strong></p><p>Necropolis is a cyber-gothic setting for The Sprawl. The player characters are cyberpunk professionals fighting corporations in a seemingly inescapable city which is possibly run by supernatural forces. A desperate monk seems to have something to say but they are sworn to a vow of silence. There have been reports of a ghostly child seen walking the grounds. What is going on? But more importantly…</em></p><p><em>What do you do?</em></p><p><strong>Unchained Mysteries</strong> is a three part, system agnostic, critical examination of mystery scenarios for role-playing games. The first part deconstructs the popular linear or branching scene structure whereby a mystery unfolds as the players follow a chain of clues from one scene to the next. It's a hard look at the creative limits, unfair demands, lack of uncertainty and removal of player agency in this common scenario format.</p><p>The second part discusses rebuilding the very idea of a mystery from the ground up. It starts from the premise that role-playing is its own unique medium not beholden to the constraints, assumptions, structures, and tropes of other media. Proceeding from the heart of a dramatic mystery, a desperate crime, a scenario is built outward through a vibrant cast of supporting characters impacted by that crime. The methodology results in a scenario that is teeming with unresolved dramatic tension.</p><p>The final part discusses the practical execution of the scenario in play. The focus is to move away from the idea of concrete clues and planned reveals. Instead the focus is shifted to active and motivated supporting characters that bring the player characters into their crises. The mystery is no longer an inert thing to be discovered but rather a set of conflicts still in motion and desperate for resolution.</p><p><strong>Also Available In Italian!</strong></p><p>Thanks to the generous work of a friend, Unchained Mysteries now includes an Italian translation. <p>The Extraordinarily Horrible Children of Raven’s Hollow is a storytelling card game for three to ten players. In the beginning, players assume the role of cruel and creepy children engaging in potentially fatal mischief with each other and the adults of Raven’s Hollow. As the children begin to meet their untimely demise they are replaced by angry ravens who interfere with the surviving children. In the end, there will be only one child left facing the mob of outraged adults and the judgment of the ravens.</p><h3>The Setting</h3><p>The village of Raven’s Hollow is an anachronistic pastiche of medieval fairy tale and 19th Century Gothic. It is surrounded by a dark forest and there is a gloomy coastal region nearby. There isn’t much in the way of magic and monsters but folklore abounds..</p><h3>Components</h3><ul><li><p><strong>Location Cards (36):</strong> Players will have a hand of these. They are used both to establish where the current vignette is taking place and to resolve the outcome of the action within it.</p></li><li><p><strong>Adult Cards (16):</strong> These represent the adults who live in the village of Raven’s Hollow. They can both help and oppose the children.</p></li><li><p><strong>Children Cards (10): </strong>At the start of the game, each player will be playing one of these characters. Each child has a unique ability available to them on their turn.</p></li><li><p><strong>Raven Cards (10):</strong> When a player’s child is eliminated from the game the player draws a raven card and continues to play the game as that raven. Like children, each raven has a unique ability.</p></li></ul><h3>Inspiration</h3><ul><li><p>Edward Gorey’s “The Gashlycrumb Tinies”</p></li><li><p>Lemony Snicket’s “A Series of Unfortunate Events”</p></li><li><p>Roman Dirge’s “Lenore” comics.</p></li></ul><h3>Why The Bare Bones Edition?</h3><p>This game has been done for several years. In that time I’ve mostly been agonizing over production costs and methods. It recently occurred to me that this has been a massive distraction. Beyond the prompts provided by the game, you don't need your aesthetics superseded by mine.</p><p>The files included in this edition of the game have been created to be printer ink friendly. You can print the entire game, including the required card deck on just a handful of pages purely in black and white. It is everything you need to play in minimal format.</p><h3>Will There Ever Be A Fancier Version?</h3><p>Maybe. I haven’t ruled out doing a nicer, fully illustrated version of the game at some point down the road. An example map is included in the zipfile to get a feel for how I use the icons.</p><p><strong>Why did you make this?</strong><br /></p><p>I've been making several adventure maps in a highly-printable black-and-white OSR style, and I could not find an icon pack that I really liked which had simple icons that were easy to identify both in a PDF and print. There are several ones that fit a good hand-drawn style, but I wanted to go with something a bit more clean. Thus, iconset! I hope you all find the icons useful. My eventual goal is to continue to add icons as I need them for my own map making and keep making updates.</p><p><strong>What can I do with the Icons?</strong><br /></p><ul><li><p>Use for personal use on VTTs or in map making.</p></li><li><p>Use in a commercial project as part of the final product (for example, any maps you make with the icons on them may be used) so long as you give attribution to the icon pack.</p></li><li><p>Remix the icons and create new ones and distribute those icons.</p></li></ul><p><strong>What can't I do with the icons?</strong></p><ul><li><p>Don't redistribute them as-is. Unless someone can delve into the forest and set things right, the region is doomed.<br /></p><p>There are three main areas in this game:</p><ul><li><p>The adventure starts in the village of <strong>Sparrowvale</strong>, a village which exists to supply and feed erchants and other travelers, many of whom might want to hire adventurers. </p></li><li><p>The last stop before the forest is <strong>The Monastery</strong>, one of many belonging to the Order of the Boundless Scroll, known for its library of strange and lost knowledge. Mushrooms creep out like festering claws from its borders. Rats flee the sewers in droves, scared of whatever has moved out of the mushroom forest. The people are growing increasingly uneasy and threaten to take to the streets. </p><p>Needless to say the city is falling apart. </p><h3><strong>SVMP? SUMP? SWAMP? WHAT'S THAT?</strong></h3><p>However you end up pronouncing it, <strong>SVMP</strong> is an entire supplement for <strong>Mörk Borg</strong>. A means to add all that swampy goodness you've been wanting to add to your campaign. It's a fantastic read, and you should definitely check it out <a target="_blank" rel="noopener" href="https://sunzenaut.com/products/svmp-swamp-crawl-in-mork-borg">here</a>. You don't need to be muckin' around in the <strong>SVMP </strong>to play this adventure, but it definitely adds to it.</p><h3><strong>CAN I PLAY THIS WITHOUT MÖRK BORG?</strong></h3><p><strong>Mörk Borg</strong>'s rules are lite, you can easily convert them to utilize the rules of your favorite OSR. On the way home from the dreaded vet, you saw it. the greatest whole salmon you’ve ever seen. and today, you’re going to get out of the house, to the store, and to that salmon. You’ve earned it. There are two important things to know: 1. You play as one of the core drives of a single cat. 2. Acquiring that fish is going to be a trial.</p><p>You Are a Cat, and You Suck is a fail-forward, diceless one page TTRPG for 2-4 players and a GM. Players inhabit one of four drives (Hunt, Chonk, Fury, Snoop), and will Yarn Ball-Paw-Claw (or <br />"Rock-Paper-Scissors") to attempt to do various actions while moving along a cat alignment grid. <p>For the Badge is a tabletop role-playing game where you are players at a modern football (i.e. soccer) club; characters will seek to further their own career goals (such as acting as a mentor, solidifying your <br />legacy, or getting noticed by the coaches) and goals of the club (such as growing the fanbase, avoiding relegation, or preventing the best players from leaving) while also managing life, stressors, and relationships away from the pitch (such as helping your parents downsize, supporting the community, or obtaining a sweet new sponsorship).  Play alternates between matches on the field and downtime in which characters explore scenes in their life off of it.  Inevitably, what happens on the field will affect you off of it, and vice versa.</p><p>This is a game for tabletop-curious sports fans and sport-curious role-playing fans including those who love Ted Lasso, Welcome to Wrexham, Hard Knocks, Moneyball, and Blaseball fandom. For the Badge explores the highs, lows, drama, elation, and heartbreak of daily life revolving around sport. The game tells grounded, personal stories of semi-professionals and professionals alike for 2-5 players and 1 Facilitator. You'll need pencils, paper, and a set of polyhedral dice for each player and the Facilitator.</p><p>The game has its own unique system, with influences stemming from Forged in the Dark, Powered by the Apocalypse, the Resistance System (Spire/Heart), and Belonging Outside Belonging games. The game has been in development for over 4 years and had dozens of playtests, including multiple campaigns. Now it's ready for the limelight and your thoughts! It should be possible to navigate it with a screenreader.
